The Gallery is hosting an open house on Sunday, 6/29 from 1-4 pm. There will be activities for all visitors, including guided tours, a kids’ table, and food and drink! While you’re there, view the summer exhibition and take our brand new guided cell tour!

The summer opening reception is tonight, 5:30 pm, at the Gallery. Free and open to the public! To pique your interest, this year we have five artists with five installations. To top it off, it’s our fifth year of programming AND today is June 5! The show’s title is “5×5″.

Come by to meet the artists, enjoy the Ken Field Trio’s jazz music, and have some food and drink!

The Tisch and Koppelman Galleries are closed for installation. We re-open on June 5 at 5:30 pm with a reception for our Annual Juried Summer Exhibition, “5×5″, in the Tisch Gallery. The Koppelman Gallery remains closed throughout the summer.

Summer hours, beginning Friday, June 6, are Wednesday - Sunday, 12-5pm. Office hours remain Monday-Friday, 9-5.

This weekend, May 17-18, is the last one for this MFA exhibition. We will close our doors on Sunday at 5 pm. Please be aware that commencement is also Sunday, May 18, so parking is very limited on campus.

We will be closed Monday, May 19 through Wednesday, June 4 in preparation for our summer exhibition. The Fifth Annual Summer Juried Exhibition opens Thursday, June 5 at 5:30 pm with a public opening reception.

Our April MFA Thesis Show opens on Thursday, April 10. Come join the Gallery and current thesis candidates for an opening reception from 5:30-8:30 pm in the Gallery. Free food and drink!

The artists’ talk will be on April 17 from 6-7:30 pm. As always, this event is free and open to the public.

Judith Hoos Fox, co-curator of Branded and On Display, will speak about the exhibition tonight at 6:30 in the Tisch Gallery.

Judy was also the curator of Pattern Language: Clothing as Communicator, at the Tufts Gallery in 2005.

Welcome back, everyone! Our galleries are up and running again after an installation period. Two new shows are up:

in the Tisch Gallery, Branded and On Display, a collection of work by 21 artists exploring themes of marketing, merchandising, and branding. The show is curated by Ginger Gregg Duggan and Judith Hoos Fox (of Pattern Language fame).

in the Koppelman Gallery, New Media Wall, and Remis Sculpture Court: Ivan Navarro: No Man’s Land. Navarro is a Chilean artist who uses fluorescent light to create three-dimensional objects that reference Chilean history and themes of dislocation and transience.

Judy Fox will be giving a curator’s talk on January 31 at 6:30 pm. Join us!

There was cotton candy. There was wrestling.

The MFA Thesis Exhibition opened last Thursday! And yes, the opening reception included the above two things. It was a party!

And this Thursday at 6 pm the Gallery will host the artists’ talk, an informal discussion with the thesis candidates about their work and exhibition. Event is free and open to the public! Come on down! Probably no cotton candy, though.

And we’re back! Just when you thought the blog was ending with the Kabakov show. Loyal Tufts readers, don’t fret. We’ll continue to bring you breaking news, important news, and not so important news. And totally trivial facts.

For example, I just looked at our blog stats and found that the most frequently used search term that leads people to our blog is “great stuff foam”. I mean, who knew? While I’m glad we’re filling that niche, I’m assuming there are a lot of people out there who just want to know where to get the stuff. I recommend Home Depot.

In other news, we have an opening coming up! The December 2007 MFA Thesis Candidate Exhibition opens tomorrow at 5:30 pm. Opening reception will feature the artists, their work, and free food and drink. Come one, come all!

The exhibition runs from 11/29 to 12/16. There is an artists’ talk next Thursday at 6 pm.

The Center of Cosmic Energy is on its way out the door! Thank you to all who came to see this huge, ambitious, exciting exhibition at the Gallery.

This blog will NOT be going anywhere - I will be resuming posting in a week, when all the de-installation excitement is over.
